Timothy Anderson, MD, MAS

Dr. Timothy Anderson is a primary care physician and health services researcher whose primary research interests are identifying strategies to improve the quality and equity of care delivered to older adults and adults with chronic conditions and to optimize medication use for patients in the hospital and at home. He joined the University of Pittsburgh faculty in 2023 after completing an internal medicine residency and a chief medical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a primary care research fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, and four years on faculty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Anderson co-directs the Prescribing Wisely Lab, which focuses on exploring ways to optimize medication use for patients in the hospital and at home and mentoring the next generation of investigators focused on improving prescribing safety, quality, and value.
